To divert 85% of the waste generated at Sony Canada operations from landfill by fiscal year 2015.
To develop product stewardship programs to maximize the diversion of Sony products from landfill by making it as easy to recycle a Sony product as it is to purchase one.
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% of 1999 levels by end of FY2015 through reducing energy reduction activities.
Energy consumption was reduced by 14% since fiscal year 1999. This resulted in a reduction in Greenhouse gas emissions by 16%.
At Our Eastern Distribution Center the warehouse lighting was retrofitted with new energy efficient T-5 lighting. Half of the new lighting has a sensor attached so when the area under to light isn’t in use the lights above will stay off until needed.
Decreased waste generation by 32% with a diversion rate of 84% since fiscal year 1999.
Over the past three years since its launch in April 2008, the program has diverted more than 205,000 kilograms of old electronics from landfills.
In addition to our retail collection sites, we have more than doubled the number of non-retail collection sites from 25 to 58 to make it as easy as possible to recycle Sony products.
